MUSE on the Grammy Awards; Cee-Lo Green is a Boss; Happy Valentine's Day

We went to J&J's for dinner - my parents came from LI - and when we were walking home, I got a text from a good friend:  "Ch. 2".  I know he isn't a huge fan of theirs, but he knows me well enough - I was walking home, missing the MUSE performance on the Grammy Awards.

Pissed as all hell, but coping quite well, I trudged home, and pulled up YouTube.

For those of you who saw it live on your television sets, I envy you.  Me?  I had to settle for a grainy version on the computer.  Shitty.

Here's the low-quality video I had to watch:

If I haven't stated it before, if and when MUSE comes around to a city remotely close to you, go see them.  It's money well spent and you will not regret a second of it.  Unreal live performance.  Take my word for it.

On a lighter note, I showered and got out just in time to catch the entire performance of "F*** You" by Cee-Lo featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and some Jim Henson puppets.  It was awesome, and he is a certified boss.  He dressed up as a peacock and played piano before a back-in-black Gwyneth Paltrow joined in.  I was couch dancing like a maniac.

Back to practice tomorrow morning at 6 am.  Early wake up.  Goodnight.

And a Happy Valentine's Day to everyone, especially my lovely wife and mom-to-be Lindsay!!

Absurd Spending

$450,000 for a fly-over at the Super Bowl even though the roof was closed to Jerry World?  Are you kidding me?

I am all for patriotism and cool shit, but the price tag for this is a little absurd.  They showed the planes on the big screen - not so cool.

So not only were the commercials sub-par, the halftime show (from what every one is saying) sucked, and Christina Aguilera screwed up the anthem.  Seems like the only thing that went right was the Green and Yellow taking the title back to Title-town.

Draddy-ville

The Manhattan basketball team faces last years MAAC Champion Siena Saints today at 2 pm in the friendly confines of the Draddy Gym.

I was speaking to the Siena staff yesterday for a while - good bunch of coaches on that staff.

Their previous coach, Fran McCafferey, jumped ship to take the Iowa head job.  They're struggling a little bit, but so are the Saints this season.

On to the game...

#1 Stunner; Valentine's Day

#1 Stunner
Ohio St. went to Kohl Center to take on the Badgers.  They were rolling.  They were the only undefeated team left.  They came out strong and had a big lead early in the second half.

The Badgers, they were confident they could make a run.  And they did.  Undefeated no longer, Ohio St. saw their lead slip away and an undefeated season slip away, largely in part to Jordan Taylor's 27 point effort (21 of them in the 2nd half) in a 71-67 win.

It was the first time since 1962 that Wisconsin had taken down #1.  The wait is over, and the students rushed the court in case anyone was unsure of the severity of this win.  Wisconsin can play (and beat) anyone in the country.  Their losses are all to quality teams - at UNLV, Notre Dame, at Illinois, at Michigan State, and at Penn State (who's beaten 3 of the top five Big 10 teams).

Now the big question is who'll move up to #1 - #2 Kansas or #3 Texas?  My vote is for Texas - they already beat Kansas and are the hottest team in the country (10 W's in a row).  Sure, Kansas only has 1 loss - to Texas.  Texas, Kansas, Pitt, Duke, Ohio State.  That's my Top 5.

Wisco heads to Boiler Country to take on #14 Purdue on Wednesday.  Ohio State looks to rebound against a reeling Michigan State (2-5 in last seven) team on Tuesday.

The Big Ten just got a whole lot more exciting - even though Ohio State still has a two game lead.

Valentine's Day
We've agreed that we're not exchanging gifts this year.  I am holding up my end of the deal - and although I've said that many times, I plan on sticking to it.  I can't even take her out to dinner because there's a basketball game here tomorrow at 7 pm.  Good planning.

For all intents and purposes, it's a greeting card and flowers holiday.  If you really care about someone, there shouldn't be one day a year that requires you to show it more than the other 364 days.  And if you don't buy her jewels or flowers, you shouldn't be in the dog house (and if you do, you shouldn't be awarded brownie points).  I mean roses aren't even in season right now - spring is.  This holiday should be in May or June, not during the frigid month of February.

And if you do buy flowers, DO NOT get them at the gas station.
